Cometa sul silenzio Comet over silence

The silence of cry all around
is creeping through walls perforated
it smells of smoke, of explosion
from mouth to mouth it resonates
through formal channels not passing
a feeble flame only ‘tween shadows 
someone is removing some debris
a memory intact extracting
retrieving some fragments of life
not sure a couple is wandering
a burnt-out village escaping
a safe place for them questing
the woman is pregnant is pale
she leans on her man who is strong
their stares are probing the desert 
no one to ask for repose
a roof as well as a berth,
a shelter for the forthcoming birth 
undamaged a stable appears
a couple of animals left there
with none to look after or feed ‘em  
on the scarce yet comforting straw
lays down the mother in labour
a lightning emotion the wailing  
wings brighten the place
they expand in a song of good news:
the child who is saviour is born!
signals the comet the event
the remaining few close together
a hope is cheering the rubble.

Intorno è il silenzio del pianto
si insinua tra muri squarciati
odora di fumo esplosione
di bocca in bocca risuona
non passa in pomposi canali
è solo fiammella tra ombre
qualcuno rimuove rovine
estrae indenne un ricordo
raccatta brandelli di vita
incerta si aggira una coppia
sfuggita a un villaggio bruciato
in cerca di un luogo protetto
la donna è gravida e pallida
si appoggia al compagno che è forte
lo sguardo che indaga il deserto
nessuno a cui chiedere sosta
un tetto e anche un giaciglio
riparo al parto imminente
intatta appare una stalla
superstiti un paio di bestie
ma senza custodia e foraggio
è scarsa la paglia accogliente
si stende la mamma ha le doglie
un lampo emozione è il vagito
le ali rischiarano il luogo
si allargano in canto di annuncio:
è nato il bambino che salva!
cometa segnala l’evento
si adunano i pochi rimasti
speranza rincuora macerie.
